It seems like cat lovers and coloring books go together like peanut butter and jelly! So, of course, one of the first books we bought was the Creative Cats Coloring Book for Adults. Most of the Coloring Groups on Facebook seem to have loads of pictures of people with their cats laying on their coloring books that everyone comments on with pictures of their cats laying on their books or knocking their supplies on the ground…. so here goes with some Cat Coloring Book suggestions…

This is a top-bound book with smaller format squarish pages 8×8 that are easy to tear out and are a nicer quality of paper than you normally see. The images are licensed by multiple artists so you may have some duplicates but the format of the glue-bound tear out pages makes this a very nice way to color. Most of the cat images in the book I haven’t seen before so I was happy when I received this book for review and have colored and gifted quite a few pages already. Published by Barrons Educational

I’ve seen several colorists renditions of pages of this book and they are spectacular. Say bonjour to the cats of Paris as they slink through its fabled streets and alleyways, from Montmartre to the Shakespeare and Company bookshop and into a feline-filled land of playful imagination. Featuring intricate pen-and-ink drawings of tabbies, Persians, Siamese, and more, this evocative coloring book’s frisky kitties lie in wait for your colorful stylings. I have to warn that the reviews on this coloring book are a mixed bag. There isn’t as much Paris in the book as you’d think based on the title.

60 cat designs are made up of hundreds of triangles that, when filled in, transform a flat illustration or 2D piece of work into a 3D image. Each page has a different breed of cat from the ordinary to the rare. The color keys on each page allow you to use either traditional colors or bright non-realistic colors for a pop art look. Some of the cats have quite tiny spaces to color while other’s are a bit larger. This reminds me of those picture puzzles in crossword books where you didn’t know how the picture would turn out until the end.
