One-Sided Coloring Books are perfect for those who love to color with markers or take their pages out of the book to color. Many of these one-image-per-page books also have perforated pages. People seem to be having a hard time finding these so here are several I’ve seen in person and/or colored in.
Christine’s faces are so fun to color in and are perfect to learn how to shade and highlight all types of faces. All of her books are one-sided so just pick the style you prefer and color away. She also sells her images to print and color which is what I’ve done to reduce my giant stack of coloring books. It’s not as cost effective for sure, but sometimes I just see an image, fall in love with it and want to color it right now. Check out her shop here.
This coloring book contains mostly portrait-style illustrations of characters from different worlds, personalities through times and from fantasy lands, including some animal and bird companions. It is also a greyscale book that really helps new colorists and artists learn where shading and highlights go on a human face. Released 12/21
This is the book that I’ve purchased several images from Christine’s Etsy Shop to print and color in and it’s my favorite.
Jane Monk’s Coloring Books
A favorite for new colorists are Jane Monk’s books which not only have nice thick perforated pages printed on one side, but they also sport several pages at the beginning of the book with information on the color wheel, how to choose colors, how to blend, shadow and shade using different materials and all sorts of helpful tips for new colorists.
52 Drawings to Finish and Color. This book also contains instructions on how to create your own tangles for mandalas.

I found this gorgeous botanical coloring book while I was on vacation in NYC and I was so happy that I had plenty of room in my suitcase for it as I didn’t want to wait one more second. It’s beautiful beyond measure and then let’s talk about the PAPER!! Thick, thick with easy-to-remove pages perfect for those of you that like to take pictures out to color and then display or frame.
These would make fantastic works of art for your home or for a gift. Floribunda contains 20 pages of illustrations and an introductory page as well as front and back colored images which are great examples if you are new to shading flowers. It measures 10 by 13 inches and is glue-bound into a colorable matte finish cover. It features black and white botanical illustrations. It’s not just me that has gone goofy for this book! Look at some excerpts from Amazon “This is the most beautiful and perfect coloring book for adults I have come across….I own many coloring books, but I only want to color in this one.~ Tom” “This may be the most gorgeous adult coloring books that I have found. Even though I have a ton of adult coloring books, I am very, very picky on what I buy. Ms. Duly’s book is a true work of art. ~ Kantar” All you marker people out there. THIS is the book for you. Copics, Spectrum Noir, Tombows, Sharpies.. whatever you coloring passion.

More One Sided Coloring Books for Adults
Sometimes I get a little too excited when I see a book that has until recently only been available in the Asian or European market and that’s how it was with
It’s technically NOT a one-sided book because in the bottom left corner of each page is a cat illustration that when you flip the pages works like a flip-book we baby-boomers will remember. The other side of the page features gorgeous images of the adventures of a bicycle and a cat as they roam through town and countrysides.
The Bicycle Coloring Book follows the fantastic journey of a bicycle exploring an unknown world without its rider. Bursting with intricate illustrations that evoke both Japanese anime and Western street art, the beautiful scenes cry out to be colored in amazing detail. As you color don’t forget to look out for the bicycle’s cute companion (there are a few pages I still haven’t found him in yet) and the illustration details that form a cleverly designed flipbook. A stunning gift book that will appeal to lovers of cycling and urban art, as well as to committed coloring-in fans. You can see my current WIP (Work in Progress) From The Bicycle Book here
De-Ann Black has a large selection of one-sided Gardening Coloring Books including Fairie Garden Spring, Summer Garden, Flower Bee, Spring Garden, Autumn Garden, Wild Garden, and Flower Hunter. I’ve not gotten the chance to color in any of hers YET but they look just beautiful and have great reviews. Her books are all printed on one side.
A new favorite fun book is this one done in Chalk Paint style
If you are a marker-loving colorist then you will ADORE this one-sided book. I tested it with Tombows and loved the result, click to see it on my Instagram.

Budget Friendly Creative Haven one-sided coloring books
One of the first books I bought was a Creative Haven book and all of those are one-sided. The paper isn’t super thick but works nicely with Prismacolors or Crayola Colored Pencils. Art markers will bleed through but we always recommend putting a piece of copy paper behind the image you are coloring not only to prevent bleed-through but also to protect the next picture from indentations that might happen if you have a heavy hand when coloring like some of us do.
