I recently lost my heart dog. I’ve owned dogs my whole life but never before had one owned me in just this way. Studies are showing that losing a beloved pet is it’s own kind of deep mourning. If you think about it, you probably spend more one on one time with your dog than any other being. Your partner goes to work, your kids to school and you are home with your best friend.. your dog.
I’ve not been able to create in any way for almost a year now, but I finally decided it was time to put my love into another dog who was also rescued from unfortunate circumstances from a Southern state.
I saw that one of my favorite coloring book artists created a book for grief after losing a beloved pet. I wish I would have seen this sooner, I’m sure it may have helped.
When You Lose a Beloved Pet
Joanne Fink was a very important part of my artistic journey. I happened upon her book Zenspirations back in 2016 when Coloring was the newest fad for adults. This book is affirming and cathartic, and n bring healing without sugar-coating the sadness of losing a pet. Everyone who has lost a pet — whether recently or years ago — will connect with the thoughtful sentiments and beautiful illustrations. Throughout the book, Joanne provides hope, healing, and helpful insights to support you on your grief journey as you deal with the challenges of losing a cherished animal friend.
Joanne also has a companion book When you Lose Someone You love

The Invisible Leash
“When our pets aren’t with us anymore, an Invisible Leash connects our hearts to each other. Forever.” That’s what Zack’s friend Emily tells him after his dog dies. Zack doesn’t believe it. He only believes in what he can see. But on an enlightening journey through their neighborhood–and through his grief–he comes to feel the comforting tug of the Invisible Leash. And it feels like love.”

Dogs in Heaven

If you’ve ever loved a dog, you know the joy they bring is matched only by the heartbreak of having to say goodbye. “Dogs in Heaven: A Mandala Coloring Book” is more than just a collection of illustrations—it’s a heartfelt journey of healing, celebration, and remembrance for anyone who treasures their furry companions. By Marina SQ
About the author “I’m Mariana SQ, a dog mom who lost her fur baby… and became a writer through everything her absence taught me.
For 12 years, I shared my life with Blacky — my companion, my little girl, my soul dog. 🕊️ Losing her shattered me. I learned that when a pet dies, you’re not just saying goodbye to a dog… but to your routine, your identity, and a piece of your soul. 💔”
