Along with the resurgence of Coloring Books, all hands on activity books have gotten a boost and that includes Dot-To-Dot and Querkles books. You could color them in after you find the hidden picture too.
Dot to Dot Puzzles
Bit by bit you follow the colors that correspond to the numbers and reveal your creation. Good eye sight is a must for these complex books.
You start at number one marked with a hollow star and then draw lines to each numbered dot until you reach a hollow dot. When you reach a hollow dog, take your pet off the page and move to the next number. Continue in this fashion until you reach the final hollow start. Great eyesight is a must for these extreme projects. This page has over 30,000 dots and should keep you busy for quite some time.
Querkles Extreme Coloring Puzzles
Querkles are an extreme coloring puzzle that I remember always loving in my Mom’s large crossword puzzle books. There was normally only 1 per book and that was always the first page I turned to. You choose any color palette and then follow the directions about lights and darks throughout the pattern indicated by numbers. So it’s a combination of a color by number and a dot to dot in that you don’t know what the picture will be until you are pretty far into the design.
Querkles Icons is probably the most recognizable if you follow colorists online. It features stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Querkles Masterpiece features 20 of the world’s most famous works of art. Querkles Animals reveals creatures such as frogs, foxes and birds or evenQuerkles Cats,
Querkles Illustrator and Creator Thomas Pavitte also has 1000 Dot-to-Dot puzzles as well for those that like to be really challenged. As readers complete each section of dots in this fun activity book, beautiful animal portraits are revealed — so intricate they’re ready for display! The 20 puzzles in this book are much more sophisticated than the one-dimensional images created in childhood connect-the-dots books. Tonal shading and expressive line work build as each numbered section is finished. Dot-to-dot puzzles have also been proven to increase short-term cognitive acuity, hand-eye coordination, and concentration skills. Whether readers are filling time on a rainy day, using the puzzles for a party game, or learning the principles of drawing, 1000 Dot-to-Dot: Animals is fun for all ages.
